Your Character

1. What to do to get started

If you're new, first join by signing up for all this, and by filling out a profile/request form and sending it to me. When you are a member but don't have official O.K. from me, you MUST put "死神: Shinigami" in your signatures. Signatures are those little things that pop up beneath your comments everytime you post something.

2. Uniform Code

A. Identity

Your signatures are like lieutenant badges, or those white haoris that captains wear. The point is that they show your rank and division. Depending on your rank, you will have different things to put on your signatures. Now, you can add whatever you want to your signatures. But your ranks, such as "死神: Shinigami" must be posted as the first thing before you put in a banner or whatever.

When you sign up, you're just a shinigami. Therefore, you MUST HAVE "死神: Shinigami" first thing in your signature. Please don't make it fancy with special colors or fonts. Bold it, if you must, but nothing else. Once you get signed up and earn a Seat, simply go to the Ranks forums to see what to put in your signature.

Your name is not in your identity. Why? Because you don't wear a name tag in Gotei 13. You have a haori or a badge to indicate your position, but not a name tag. Now, we could argue that the lower-ranks don't have any kind of badge to indicate ranks or divisions. You're right. But they do have it sewn into their uniforms. Let's not type 'Grabs uniform and opens it to read rank and division' everytime we meet someone new. I don't know about names, but rank and divisions, let's indicate.

Should you not show your rank in your signatures (except, if you don't know how to change your signature), you will be dealt with by your superiors. It does not follow the uniform Code, and that's pretty serious, as you know from any school or workplace. That's like coming into a Captains' Meeting with pajamas.

B. Appearance

You're more than welcome to draw your face or get a picture of yourself, especially if you choose to be a Bleach character. Put this under your name, in your signature. It makes it easier to envision who you are. You don't have to, though, if you don't wish.


3. Profile/Request Form

After you join, you MUST fill out a profile/request form or otherwise you will be a "死神:Shinigami" with practically nothing. This is the formatting of your profile/request form:





THE INFORMATION REQUIRED IS THE INFORMATION OF YOUR CHARACTER. I don't care whether or not you're a 15-year-old pretending to be a 30-year-old man.

1. Your name: (If you choose a pre-existing character, you automatically become him/her. If your rank or division is taken, you must request a different rank or division, but your respective zanpakuto will still be given to you; check Character Availability forum)

Also, if you choose a pre-existing one WITHOUT choosing to be a character from the series, then you are risking a lot. If a pre-existing character comes into play, the pre-existing character will own their respective zanpakuto, and yours will be revoked. You will then have to create your own or take another pre-existing one)

* List the person that you hope your character will be romantically involved with. There is a certain issue with the romantic pairings. I have seen it in the past, and it's not pretty when romance becomes something completely unexpected from the expectation of the fans/RPGers. Therefore, please state the romantic pairing that you are hoping for from the beginning. Then other characters can visit the Hall of Fame for the Hall of Records and get a good idea of their romantic ideals. One only or none, please. Before you fill it out, please refer to Romantic Ideals, just below.

IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU READ THROUGH THE 'INFORMATION' GROUP OF FORUMS BEFORE FILLING THIS OUT.





3. Ranks and Divisions

Having a hard time choosing? No problems. Just head over to our Divisions and ranks forums, NOT the Division buildings. You can also choose to look around at the forums.

4. Romantic Ideals

There's a considerable bit of concern for this topic, so I will take some time to talk about it. There are people who want no romance at all and people who do want it with very different ideas of the pairings. But the idea is that this is your character that we're talking about. If it's Hitsugaya, there obviously might be SOME (miniscule, at least?) feelings for Hinamori. What I'm saying is that I'm not going to force you to love anyone, but that you have to consider your character. Not only that, but there are a great deal of fans who may be here for character romance, so I'm just hoping that you'll be willing to give romance a chance. Besides, it could be all acting for you, should you be a Bleach character.

There are always fan girls or guys who would like some slash pairings. Anyway, the point is, you may get disappointed, just as much as others who want non-slash pairings. If you must be in a slash pairing (please join this forum! I need people!), then list it, and cross your fingers.

Now, one way to avoid this pairing issue completely might be to just make yourself your own character. I don't know how this would help specifically: Perhaps you want no love at all, whatsoever? Whatever the case, cutomizing a character may help your situation in some way.

IMPORTANT: This is a first-come-first-serve deal that can be enjoyed by those who sign up for this RPG first. If you choose a character, and state that the character will like someone else, I will list 'slash' or 'admired' beside the name of that 'someone else' to indicate that there are potential pairings awaiting him/her.

5. Choosing a Character

Your personal characters are great. They can be customized to be you for a complete shinigami experience as yourself. More power to you.

If you want to become Bleach characters, however, I know that you have a person in mind right away or have a hard time choosing. This section is for the latter kind. You're probably having a hard time choosing because you have a lot of favorite characters, because the character you want is taken or has a different rank/division, or because of the gender/pairings issue.

If you have a lot of favorite characters, I sympathize. For the ninja-loving girls, it's likely Yoruichi or Soi Fong; for the hardcore Bleach fanguys, it's probably down to the most powerful Bleach guys out there. All I can say is that none of them are necessarily stronger than another from the beginning. It depends on the rank, really. As for the character preferences, I'm going to have to ask you to close your eyes in a life-changing round of 'pick a name out of a hat'. If it makes you feel better, you can always try being a character, and then give up on it, and choose another character. Just make sure to do so before those characters are taken by others.

If the character you want is taken, that is really too bad. But you can identify what you liked about the character and create a better character or a related character. For example, say that Kuchiki Byakuya is taken, when you really wanted to be him. Then maybe you can surprise the rest of us by creaing a twin of Kuchiki Byakuya. Hey, Kibo said nothing about forgotten identical twins.

If the character you want has a rank or Division that's taken, that isn't the end of the world. Even if the higher ranks are taken, don't worry. You will progress to higher ranks as you play, because I will make sure that everyone does. If you're mad about the Division, simply ask to be switched to the Captains or ask me. We're likely to consider your opinion very much.

If the character you want has a different gender or a pairing possibility that you don't like, that's an issue. You're welcome to try being a character of a different gender; after all, you have to be IN CHARACTER with that Bleach character, anyway. Why should gender matter so much, right? But then that character might like someone that completely messes with the pairing that you want. Don't worry: That's what the pairings column in the application is for. But then the pairing you have in mind may not work out, just keep that in mind.
