隊長: Captains

I congratulate you, captains! You are the the stongest of the Gotei 13, and with the most reponsibilities, as well. You are more than just a fighter and protector: You are a leader.

You lead your men. Whether or not you want to do all the work in your Division or give them all away to your subordinates is not my problem. You do what you will. Do whatever it takes to stay powerful and stay on top. Under your leadership, your Division should be flowing smoothly, flawlessly, and in order.

Have you read everything under the category, 'INFORMATIONS'? Whatever your Division is supposed to do, you and only you are 100% responsible for. I wish you luck, cap'n, really, I do. You could end up as the most powerful person in Soul Society, or sink down with your ship.

1. Skills

I will skip to the chase. The skills available for the Captains can be found on the Skills List thread in the Rules and Regulations.

You have more stat points than any other rank, and only you can use Bankai (with the exception of a few lieutenants).

2. Vacations

Yes! Did I mention that you get more vacations than others? Unless absolutely necessary, a shinigami can only get 4 vacations in a year. You, however, are allowed to have 6.

But be warned. You have so many responsibilities and work tugging at you, you won't even have time to spend all the vacations, anyway. Did I mention that all paperwork needs your approval?

3. Duties

There are quite a few.

A. Captains' Meetings

Every month, on the 13th, there is a Captain's Meeting in the 1st Division Meeting Room. There, you can voice up the opinion of all the shinigami in your Division. What is it that you want? A raise? A reform in the uniform Code?

Whatever your needs, you can voice it up there. While being on Vacation is fine, being absent will not look good, Captain. Not at all.

This is one event that only the Captains can attend. Don't even think about shoving this one to your innocent lieutenant.

B. Checking the Divisions Board

Every day or so, you are obligated to check the Divisions Board. There may be a mission, suited best for your Division. Perhaps it's even reserved for your Division. Whatever the case, you must check it for missions, and claim the missions.

THE MORE MISSIONS YOU DO, THE BETTER YOU WILL LOOK. I will ensure that you do not go unnoticed when I am considering a raise in both salary and budget. You may also get some extra perks or items as rewards.

Only you, the Captain, can claim a mission by posting an acceptance note, unless you state that you have given your lieutenant the right. Your lieutenant, when he claims a mission, will say that he has special rights from you.

C. Assigning Missions/Duties

I'm sure you will accept a bunch of missions. Otherwise, I'm afraid for your future. Anyway, you are to organize the missions and how they will be carried out. It is up to you to decide who and how many go out to carry out the mission. You must also decide the leader of the group, should you decide to send out a group of your own men. Perhaps you feel like doing a mission, all on your own. Whatever your decision, you must post it on the Missions Board. Don't forget to write down the Mission Number and briefly describe the situation. Don't forget to check back often to see if your men have responded and accepted a mission. Remember that there is a DUE DATE and a DUE TIME for each mission.

As for duties, you can be as specific and general as you want. For example, you can assign 5 people to manage the Sign-In reports, or assign a 5th Seat to do all the Budget Reports. Maybe you feel like putting all the officers into small teams for Communication duties in the 13th Division. I don't know.

In any case, this is one duty that you can successfully shove to your lieutenant. But would you want to trust something as important deciding the fate of your men to anyone other than yourself (and maybe your lieutenant)?

D. Accepting all Responsibilities

I will yell at you, because I know that my character would. If you do something wrong, I will be disappointed. You may even be put to short Detention. Who knows? But remember that you alone represent the entire Division.

E. Organizing your Men

All shinigami, once they enter your Division, will report to you to inform you of their existence. It's up to them and you to decide whether or not you want to get closer to him/her. Perhaps you would like to hold a Weekly Meeting for all members of your Division. Perhaps you would like to hold a party, or put your Division's budget to carrying out any ideas of one of your men.

You might think that your men are better off in small, fixed groups. Maybe you're well aware of every member's abilities, and know how to group them together, depending on the mission. It's completely up to you to organize your men. If you would like to invite a member to your Division or move one out of your Division, that is also up to you.

F. Promotion/Demotion

It is up to you, the Captain, to promote or demote any officers in your Division. You have control of any of your Seated Officers (3-20th) and your lieutenant (2nd Seat). Make wise choices. And remember that I can override any of your ruling, should I disagree.

You must also be wondering if you can be promoted any further. When your stat points are full, you can either:

- join the Zero Division Royal Guards (a.k.a. Hall of Fame) and then start over as another character. You may want to 'win' in all Divisions.
- stay where you are.

The risk with the latter is that I could force you off into the Zero Division Royal Guards. When a Lieutenant fills all his stat points but all the Captain spots are filled, I will most definitely force you to 'win' the game.

G. Reports

All Reports are to be checked over by you, with your signature on every single one of them. What you don't approve of does not pass. I don't care if you're telling all of your men to do the Reports for you. All I know is that you're responsible for them.

H. Uniform Code

In your signature, first thing, put '隊長: Division Captain'. Make sure to put the Division number. For example, it should look something like '隊長: 1st Division Captain' for me and '隊長: 3rd Division Captain' for the 3rd Division Captain.

If you hold more than just this title, like a title in the Kido Corps or the Secret Mobility Stealth Force, then go to the Divisions forums to find out more.

Follow the rest of the Uniform Code, as listed in the GETTING STARTED forum.

I. Mutiny

I mentioned mutiny somewhere. An actual mutiny is not really possible, though I suppose you can organize it somewhat. Just remember that it is against the law, and... well... you all know what a big fuss it was to rescue Rukia from an execution.

The point is that your men can argue to me about your reign of tyranny or how unfair you are. Your power rests in you and the cooperation of your Division.

4. Conclusion

You can find further information about you as a Captain in a particular Division in the Divisions Forum.

I know I seem much harsher in this forum than the Lieutenants' or the Seated Officers'. That's because I believe in you. You are all leaders that can handle the pressure, that can handle the work, and that can lead your men to become future Captains and Lieutenants. You are the pillars of Soul Society that are my supports (and probably my moderators). You crumble under no circumstances, because you're strong. You are the pride and the faces of Gotei 13.

Here's your white haori. Go on and lead your Division. We're all watching, Captain, and your men are awaiting your orders.
